Israeli mother Addresses European Parliament
Dear Friends,
Dr. Nurit Peled-Elhanan is the mother of Smadar Elhanan, 13 years old when killed by a suicide bomber in Jerusalem in September 1997. Below is Nurit’s speech made on International Women’s Day in Strasbourg earlier this month. Please listen to the words of a bereaved mother, whose daughter fell victim to a vicious, indiscriminating terrorist attack. I wish her words will enter the hearts of all peace seekers in our troubled and divided world.

Thank you for inviting me to this today. It is always an honour and a pleasure to be here, among you (at the European Parliament).
However, I must admit I believe you should have invited a Palestinian woman at my stead, because the women who suffer most from violence in my county are the Palestinian women. And I would like to dedicate my speech to Miriam R’aban and her husband Kamal, from Bet Lahiya in the Gaza strip, whose five small children were killed by Israeli soldiers while picking strawberries at the family`s strawberry field. No one will ever stand trial for this murder.
When I asked the people who invited me here why didn’t they invite a Palestinian woman, the answer was that it would make the discussion too localized.
I don’t know what is non-localized violence. Racism and discrimination may be theoretical concepts and universal phenomena but their impact is always local, and real. Pain is local, humiliation, sexual abuse, torture and death, are all very local, and so are the scars.
It is true, unfortunately, that the local violence inflicted on Palestinian women by the government of Israel and the Israeli army, has expanded around the globe, In fact, state violence and army violence, individual and collective violence, are the lot of Muslim women today, not only in Palestine but wherever the enlightened western world is setting its big imperialistic foot. It is violence which is hardly ever addressed and which is halfheartedly condoned by most people in Europe and in the USA.
This is because the so-called free world is afraid of the Muslim womb.
Great France of “la liberte égalite et la fraternite” is scared of little girls with head scarves. Great Jewish Israel is afraid of the Muslim womb which its ministers call a demographic threat.

I wish US congress-men/women and senators could read this — there must be some honest and good ones among them who might invite speakers like this to address Congress too. Instead of getting into debating the meanings of jihad to counter Jewish propaganda, we should try to arrange such presentations. The word Jihad can never be
sanitized ever again, thanks to sleeping Muslim scholars who failed to check before it hit the fan.

The above remark of Mr Babar Mustafa indicates a need for rude awakening.
Not a single politician in USA can advance his political career without going through prior scrutiny and approval of the Jewish lobby called AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee ). If the entry level aspirant of a political office fails to satisfy/convince the Jewish “Lobby” of his pro-Israel commitment and an Israel-friendly agenda in his career going forward, his ambition is nipped in the bud. This is done irrespective of whether the budding politician is from Republican Party or Democrat. Either way he has to pronounce his commitment to Israeli cause, in dealing with any Draft Bills introduced on the floor of the Congress for debate and passing into law, that may have affects on the State of Israel in short term or long term. For a budding politician to get promoted in Print and Electronic Media, for fruitful fund-raising exercise, to secure massive donations from Corporate donors and for image building by high profile Spin Doctors, the approval of Israeli lobby is a must. This process continues throughout the career of the politician as he climbs the political ladder in his political career.
As a result, not a single politician in the US Congress, Gubernatorial races, Municipal elections, survives, who is not already committed to be totally faithful to Israeli interests at every milestone of his political career. Most competing Gubernatorial candidates, Senate candidates, Presidential candidates have to visit Israel and convince them that they will remain faithful to Israeli cause, to get their blessing. Candidates of both major parties have to do it, or else, they meet the fate of John Edwards, Or Bush Sr.
Therefore, no matter how many men and women of Congress read that letter, and no matter how many times they read, they will be suicidal to express any sympathy ; it would ruin their career magically in a wink.
